Making the Most Out of a Small Bathroom

May 9, 2019 by Duke Leave a Comment

Living in an apartment or a small house does not give you a big space to decorate and make it as comfortable as possible without feeling cramped. But there are some excellent ways you can work around a small house. You can still have all the necessary amenities, though, despite limited space. You just have to scale down a bit to make everything fit and still have enough space to move around.

The bathroom is one room in the house that you have to efficiently decorate, so it does not feel cramped. You should also arrange it such that it stays dry and well-aired despite the small space. Putting a shower pod with clear glass walls in the bathroom provides the illusion of space when there really is not much.

Keep the bathroom dry

The pod should keep the water inside it, so the entire bathroom floor and walls stay dry throughout. A damp and moist bathroom is a breeding ground for bacteria and mould, which can cause illnesses for the people in the house. Make it a habit to wipe down the shower walls and floor after each shower to prevent bacteria and mould from developing. Drying it each time after using the shower is easier than doing a weekly or monthly clean up. Choose a pod which has a door opening inwards or sliding to the side, so that even if you have to open the door, it will not cramp the whole area. You also get to save space with an inward-opening or sliding door.

Be minimal

Since you are working with a small bathroom space, you don’t need a lot of fixtures. Only the basics – sink, the cabinet under the sink, mirror, over-the-toilet rack for towels, toilet and a small nook for the toilet paper should be enough. The more you put a lot of stuff in the bathroom, the more it will feel cramped. Do your makeup in the bedroom, at a dresser if you have one. Reserve the bathroom for bathroom tasks, so you don’t have to put a lot of stuff in it.

Use bright coloured paint

Painting the bathroom walls a dark colour will only make it look smaller. For the illusion of a bigger space, make use of bright colours for the walls. White is your best bet for this. It creates a bigger space when there is actually a small one. Avoid using too many colours. Though they may make the bathroom look lively, busy colour combinations will not let you achieve a spacious looking bathroom.

If you are remodelling your home and you need inspiration for your bathroom, you can look for design ideas online that will help you achieve your goal of having all the necessities while still having enough space in the bathroom. Once you achieve this goal, you will feel like even if you have a tiny bathroom space to work with, it is still enough for your needs.

Home Office Decor Ideas

January 14, 2019 by Duke Leave a Comment

In order to decorate a home office that you’ll actually enjoy spending time in, simply continue reading to discover a bit of home office style inspiration.

Home Office Decor Ideas:

1. Place a stylish velvet ottoman in your home office

It’s well worth placing a stylish yet incredibly functional velvet ottoman in your home office as you’ll be able to use your ottoman to put your feet up when you need a break from work or as a makeshift chair for any visitors to your office.

2. Hang a decorative mirror on the wall of your home office

In order to add a bit of glamor to your home office, why not hang an eye-catching decorative mirror on one of the walls in your home office. This is a particularly great idea if you’re not fond of hanging up paintings in your home.

3. Purchase a sofa for your home office

If you are lucky enough to have a fairly large office, it’s well worth placing a comfortable, chic sofa in your home office. Better yet, why not place a throw rug or a knitted blanket over the armrest of your sofa, so that your home office looks like a warm and inviting place to spend time in. As a home office doesn’t have to be as sterile as a traditional office.

4. Don’t be afraid to place plants or flowers in your home office

Another way to make sure that your home office doesn’t appear sterile is to place plants or flowers in your home office. As greenery will instantly make your home office a more pleasant place to spend time in.

However, you don’t have to spend lots of money on purchasing new plants for your home office, as if you’re on a tight budget simply place flowers from your garden in a vase on your work desk. Or a spare table in your home office.

5. Place a decorative clock on your wall

While you may no longer rely on reading a traditional clock to tell the time, as you’ll easily be able to tell the time by looking at your smartphone or laptop, placing a decorative clock on your home office wall, will help dress your home office up. You may even be surprised at how often you’ll actually glance at your wall clock in order to tell the time.

6. Consider having a skylight built into your home office

If your home office is dark and gloomy, simply have a skylight built into your home office’s ceiling in order to allow huge amounts of natural sunlight to enter your home office. You’ll be particularly pleased with the effects of having a skylight when you’re trying to work in your home office during winter.

7. Consider painting a bookshelf black and placing it in front of a black wall to create a modern-looking aesthetic look for your home office

This is a great idea if you want your home office to have a thoroughly modern aesthetic.

Hopefully, you’re inspired by at least one of the home office style ideas listed above.
